rangers are by far worth a measly 200 exp penalty..

you can heal yourself, you can hide, you can hold people, you can cut their moves off, you can dual wield, can cure plague, get 3rd attack, can use staves.., get wilderness fam.
they can get their own food and water source allowing them to be -utterly- independant of any source
