There are many types of bards..

We've had the Delacroix/Velasquezs

We've had the Pippins

We've had the Mendeirons

We've had the Battle bards

We've had the host of troupe bards

Why do all of these necessarily have to do something
artsy to be thought of as not being a waste?

A Battle bard isn't going to be an artsy
fartsy "frolicing in the fields" little elf. He's going
to be a druken barbarian who wouldn't know poetry from
a hole in the wall, but for some reason or another was
able to pick up an instrument an play it instead of bashing
his barbaric brothers and sisters over the head with it?

When is a bard a waste?
