Ideas change. If it is not set in the code that something is this way and only this way, it allows you room for interpretation and extrapolation on that aspect of the game. This makes CF an interesting exercise (even if you're playing an arbiter and reinterpreting laws and loopholes). All players are encouraged to do this. Now, once a player that has done this reaches a position of power in the cabal, sure, it's legitimate for him to use that position to spread his view. If he goes too far, the cabal immortals will crack down. But, if he creates a case to support his views, and a legitimate mythos, it will be added to the game. For all you know, Narlock's ideas will catch fire and soon be the offical dogma (tm) of magic. (Although if this is the case, the line "eyes tingle" should probably be different for each magus/priest, depending on how they're seeing invisibility.)
