Thieves don't need to become a better PKing class, just a better THIEVING class. Someone once mentioned how many of the thieves skills are unique. This is true. They are kind of boring and uneventful in a strictly 'class' kind of way.

I say give them abilities that help them STEAL better... let them steal more, like the pry command suggested in the log above. Make them sneak better, hide better, peek better or whatever... I don't care too much. But don't make a thief kill better, he's not a killer. His role is to pop up, take something, and run away. He should be very good at these things.
Especially at running away... no class has a skill that helps them flee better, maybe thieves should.

Thieves shouldn't be let in to Rager. There thieves, not fighters.
