Vague answer...

The numbers I mention have been directly pulled from my ass, but are only used as a basis for comparison.

Intelligence increases how quickly you learn. For example, as a 17 int race after 50 rounds of combat, you may raise your enhanced damage once or twice. As a 24 int race after 50 rounds of combat, you may raise your enhanced damage three or four times. This obviously helps, especially if you're a felar assassin with unmastered dodge, unarmed defense, enhanced damage, and shield block and you're off practicing naked with a shield in your hand. You're likely to see at least one enhancement per screenful.

Wisdom seems to effect how MUCH you learn from your mistakes. Someone with 18 wis may learn 1-2% from their mistakes. Someone with 23 wis may learn 3-4%. The highest I've personally seen is 4%.

The difference in messages is, "You have become better at..." seems to be driven by intelligence, while wisdom takes over under the "You fail to..."...

*shrug* Just some insight, not very well thought out and such.
