I've played CF, stepped over to Avendar a few years 1. Bow. Bow isn't usable as a melee weapon. Requires one (off-)hand. 4. 'Shoot' quick/normal/aimed. So you get 'Shoot [direction] [aiming type] [distance] [target] [type].' This doesn't seem useable by mere mortals, so the code is pretty good at filling things in. Leave away direction and distance when you're firing Arrow type - normal (as opposed to 'barbed') is assumed when not specified. 'normal' aim is assumed when not specified as well. So, 'shoot Animal aimed' is a decent way to shoot me with a normal arrow.
ago (so I had the chance to be at a mud that's
starting up), and have used archery quite extensively.
1. Archery wouldn't be copied from Avendar, if CF
implanted it. It's an ancient idea. Besides, I'd
rather have a good mud that picked up some good ideas
from other muds then one that's frantically trying to
stay as unique as possible. That's my flavour though.
(I used to think otherwise, but I changed my mind
after being flogged a few times for things I didn't
get. (like the 'familiar' concept being quite a bit
older then 3 years. *grin* - similar post as the guy
that thought that diablo 2 was a ripoff from CF))
Now, let's explain archery.
2. Arrows. Can only carry with you so many of them in
your quiver. (a container of limited size that you
cannot loose, except that it's emptied in your
inventory upon death).
3. Different types of arrows.
The longer you take to aim (lag both pre and post
shot), the higher the damage. It was tweaked down a
bit lately. Expect a MASSACRE or MANGLE at lvl 11,
aimed at a non-sleeping person.
5. 'Shoot' [type] of arrow.
Shoots an arrow of that type
6. Shoot [target] - aims at that target
7. Shoot [distance] 1-3 rooms. less damage over longer distances.
8. Shoot [direction].
on a unique target (don't try to hit a specific
bloodbeast 3 rooms west, if you're surrounded by them
without specifying direction and distance.)
