organized) with all kinds of books.  Bright flowers fill vases on shelves, 
the table, and the mantle of the fireplace on the southern wall, above which 
hangs a large painting.  Several oil lamps hang suspended from the ceiling, 
bathing the cabin in a warm light.  The walls are adorned with framed 
needlepoints of flowers and forest scenes, as well as a few hand-made quilts.  
A comfortable looking rocking chair sits in the southeast corner of the room, 
within easy reach of several of the bookshelves.  A window lets filtered 
forest light enter the room from the east, and a simple wooden door to the 
west leads into the second room of the cabin.
