  You stand on one of the massive piers used to bring in goods and supplies from
the far reaches of Thera.  There are all sizes of boats lined up, some small 
fishing boats, some large trading boats, and a few slave trading boats.  All 
of the traffic of the piers funnels through this checkpoint, and the Galadon 
Port Authority.  To the north you can see the River Road and the warehouse 
district of Galadon.  To the south you can see Voralia's Tears as it gently 
glides through to the west.

The High Altar of the Great Temple 
  Here at the heart of the Great Temple, a wide circular dais mirrors the
sweeping curves of the dome of colored glass high above.  Large enough to
hold a hundred or so of the devoted around its perimeter, five coal pits form 
a glowing ring around the altar to the desert city's pantheon of deities, 
separating the blessed from the profane.  Large urns of smoked glass and
darkened iron serve as receptacles for donations to the Temple and the city's
unfortunate.  To the north and south a few steps lead down to the lowest
floor of the Temple.

paved here with help from the Voralian Order.  Shopkeepers cry their wares,

shine in shades of purple and deep maroon, all well-built but obviously not
the work of master artisans.  Now and then you see a patrol of Voralian City
guards part the crowds and move down the road, armor glinting in the sun.
