Invoker's Guild

  A large pentagram is inscribed in the center of the floor, the 

guildmaster's teaching platform.  Several smaller pentagrams lie outside 

it for the students to practice with.  The air crackles with the powers 

that are summoned into this room.  Fortunately, it is well magic-proofed 

and there is minimal danger of an explosion.  The dark alley lies to the 

west.  At the north end of the chamber a wide flight of wooden stairs leads

up to the Guild's bar.

  The air rushing under your wings is cold and crisp.  You slow

the flapping of your wings and glide for a moment, to marvel 

once again at the view.  No matter how many times you see it, 

the view from above the clouds still invokes a childlike 

reverence in you.  It is as if the clouds themselves form a 

whole new tier of land high above Thera, of rolling white 

hills with a few dark thunderheads scattered among them.

Approaching a break in the clouds, you look down at the world

below you.  A city marked by four towers at its corners lies

surrounded by squares of yellow and green land, with haphazard

forests lying farther to the south and west.  The buildings of 

the city seem so tiny from up here, the people walking its 

streets nothing more than ants.  From up here, the city you 

know as Galadon seems small and insignificant, a far cry from 

what those bound to the earth seem to think.  Even the majestic 

Voralia's Tears is nothing more than a thin blue line from this 

height, running from the eastern horizon into the treetops to the 

west.

the great expanse of the Eastern Road, which stretches from the 

western horizon to that in the east.  At the edge of the eastern 

horizon, you think you can see the towers of the battlements of 

Galadon.  To the north and south of the road, square fields of 

lush farmland are overlooked by tiny boxlike farmhouses.  Every 

so often, you spy someone walking along the road, the apparent 

size of mere ants from this altitude.  Far to the north, the 

farmlands begin to give way to open plains, while to the south

the Shadow Peaks rise up to dominate the landscape.

  The broad avenue seems to be falling into disrepair here, as though the

masons do not care to come to this part of the city.  You hear raucous

laughter coming out of a tavern to the west.  The Dark Temple looms

menacingly over you to the east.  The windows seem more like brooding eyes

and the archway in the wall seems like a huge mouth ready to swallow you.

The road continues to an intersection with the River Road to the south and

meets with the Market Square farther to the north.
