If he would have broken the APs wrist with the kotegaeshi, then caltrapped him, he might have won. Without a weapon and dex hurt, his claws would have ripped through the AP. He should have ran, though, and recovered... But I've "kotegaeshi'd after being spelled up" and won the battle... although barely.
Imagine, if you will... as soon as he attempted to kotegaeshi.
The AP got 5 attacks, then a bash, then another 5 attacks and the assassin died. The assassin got 2 attacks, then the bash from the AP, then another 4 attacks. If the kotegaeshi was successful chances are he would of at least gotten the AP down to 200hp. Anyway, this is all moot... even the fact that Aluria was attempting to heal him... just saying that starting a battle with kotegaeshi (in most situations, even something as grim as this) can work. :-)
