There are ways of asking for information without breaking character.. "I have seen Elders of our guild wearing _some item of clothing_. Know you its intrinsic powers?" "Have you ever journeyed to the forest south of Seantryn Modan? What is the name of the village there?" "The guildmaster has taught me the art of _some skill/spell_ but he said I must consult an elder guildmember to discover its true use. Will you assist me?" "I have thrice attempted a rescue of this elf. Why is it that you, and others, insist on killing him just before he reaches safety?" "That is the third time I have felt the wrath of your blades [spells, heavenly powers, etc] within three days [in character, not 'elven']. Why is it that you hunt me so?" "I am looking to strike my opponents harder with each blow. Do you know where I could find a bracer that may give me an edge in combat?" "I do not understand the purpose of _skill_, could you help me understand it?" And the list goes on. Believe me, I should know. I've asked probably every one of these at some point in time. Yeah, you make it obvious that you don't know about something (new to a cabal, class, or race perhaps)...but I respect a person who can figure out how to ask it and remain in character it can be done, you just have to think a little bit. Or use the newbie channel ;) sparky
