I assume you get observation XP for looking at various keywords but what drives exploration XP? Just walking through the rooms? Does anyone know mechanically how to trigger exploration XP without triggering observation XP?

I always seemed to get both by trying to get observation XP but now I'm wondering if I was leaving XP behind.
