I had asked about giants with whips because I was planning one.
I chose Minotaur for the higher Dexterity and while it was effective for the purposes I planned
+Entwine never failed
+Lash lagged magi well enough to kill (Invoker, Shapeshifter, Shaman)
+Strip was useful against priests
+You will never lose your weapon holding most whip/flails
+ There are more whips out there than most know
+ One of the best weapons a Tribunal on duty can use
-Even with Improvised Parry and more dex than other giants, It would not hold up against warrior/ranger/assassin even if I wielded vuln. PVE was nice with utility of whip and shields were useful . With pk a shield/whip does not keep up and if you fail to utilize the special control abilities you die. I also rarely fought with anyone else at my side.
I never got to fight a Transmuter so my divine spell protection was wasted on everything but a single shaman. No healers or paladins. The fights went well, and a more skilled player would have taken the shaman down. I settled for stripping cool flails. I never even faced a necromancer.
I noticed a new Commander with whip to entwine and it worked on me. It was hardly a fair fight because I could not survive a flurry despite one of my best sets of equipment in history. No melee can. Flurry is still largely unbalanced to anything else a warrior can do. Drum might be heavy damage but it does not halve the ability of swords that defend well and also riposte. Equal characters will not survive mace vs sword or Z would still be the Commander.
If you ever wonder if flurry really is overpowered, consider that even I Warmastered 3 times with it.
