yes there is a damage bonus to ambush, but not a lot.

Those big exp penalties aren't worth it anymore imo

Lokain July 23, 2011 09:22AM

Racial penalties, especially for elves (giants have all the good stuff plus long lives) really need to be lowered, for that very reason (n/t)

morocco July 23, 2011 09:35AM

I think the better solution is to just make hero range larger

Lokain July 23, 2011 04:22PM

This already happens for characters with high xp penalties. Elf/delf/welf are in hero range at level 42 as a 0xp class unless they eat a mob death. nt

dalneko July 23, 2011 07:20PM

the other way around. level 42 human wars should be in range for hero elves (n/t)

morocco July 24, 2011 05:38AM

But then doesn't that defeat the whole point of playing a human? To have a low upper range but a huge downward range.

dalneko July 24, 2011 07:48AM

A human at 42 still has level 33 elves to pick on, so it wouldn't utterly defeat the purpose

morocco July 24, 2011 08:11AM

I think you're right (n/t)

morocco July 23, 2011 04:38PM

Thanks for the answer, and it's 15/15 at hero right? (n/t)

ORB July 23, 2011 12:49AM

17s, iirc (n/t)

morocco July 23, 2011 03:46AM

They also get a ton of bonuses to certain ranger skills. I'm a fan of welf rangers. NT

Sam July 22, 2011 03:04PM

me too nt

daurwyn(VIP) July 22, 2011 10:58PM

What other skills? (n/t)

torak July 22, 2011 09:50PM

Entangle is mentioned directly in the help file for wood elf

Matrik July 22, 2011 10:39PM

true, the call lightning bonus is very noticable (and nice) (n/t)

Wood Elf Hunter FTW!!

arzzra July 24, 2011 11:46AM

i don't see why rangers actually use staff/spear in practice

av31 high damroll weapon

Murphy July 23, 2011 05:35AM

it helps to ambush with a high av weapon (your dual wield will only contribute dam) . most people just don't switch (n/t)

morocco July 22, 2011 06:24PM

but you give up being able to exploit a vuln (cept gaint gnome/svirf) an avg 24 weapon hitting a vuln is better

Quas July 23, 2011 09:23AM

Isildur(VIP) July 23, 2011 11:04AM

My felar ranger only hit 44. And was forester/survivalist.

Sam July 22, 2011 05:27PM

easy to say: fuck no. (n/t)

zoskia July 22, 2011 03:03PM

it's a question of playing style: if you ambush hard enough/at the right time you only need 1 hp (n/t)

morocco July 22, 2011 03:43PM

At 30, a normal ranger's staff is 18 average and +8/8 when imbuned. Every 5 levels, you get +3 average and +1 hit/dam. Wood-elves fashion them as if they were 5 levels higher than other rangers.~

ibuki July 22, 2011 02:05PM

I thought it was 14/14 but its been awhile.~
