Mariner vs. other rangers questions

I may be wrong on this, but I thought I read somewhere that non-mariners cannot see mariners while they are camo'd in water.

1) Is this true? If so, is there any other ranger terrain that has similar qualities? (Desert...?)
2) How does creep for mariners work? In water but not on land? Can giants creep underwater without coming out?
3) Any tips for best Storm exploration mariner? Hunter for bow/defense?
