If I'm looking at it as "Random rager berserker warrior" vs "AP" - I don't see the RBW ever being worse in a power sense than an AP without charges. Outside of strict RP goodness, people play an AP mechanically for ABS + charges. That's the allure. You might not be totally useless without those things but you're making a decision to be strictly worse than a warrior, or at least strictly worse than an RBW.

It's fine to make a choice to be subpar but assuming you're trying to "win CF" in the traditional sense, you cannot take risks with an AP like you can take risks with a warrior or you will turn into a punching bag. So if someone says "gee your invoker was a pussy" - I might agree. But if someone says, "gee your subpar-race AP is a pussy", compared to their fully optimized RBW, I just roll my eyes and tell them to give it a shot themselves.
