I did not react ooc in my opinion, I wasnt upset, I had just successfully defended, lost nothing. This wasnt a bleed through, OOC to IC situation, I assume I was being watched so I took the opportunity when this mage talked to me to respond, thinking it would be watched by Baer or Youlod. I see now through discuss here that people view my calling out the spell names as ooc. I've explained that to me the player, this is semantics and I do not necessarily agree with this. I feel it's an inaccurate view of the world to think our characters do not know what 'barrier' 'aura' or 'shield' are, yet have used lore to identify sleek wands. However, as it is clear from the responses here that it is percieved this way in game, i'll avoid it in the future. My thought in that is that the players view is probably reflected in the immortals, so if I want positive immteraction, I'd best do what is accepted by the players. The concept though, i will not discard. If an ABS'ed mage comes to murder me and taunts me as a coward, I'll have the same conversation, replacing aura, barrier, shield, with 'protective magics'.
Others here have said that supplications are provided by the god, not granted to the caster. I'd ask that they read the silent prayer skill, which my character possess through the virtues granted by faith. Worldbound contacting his god or no, so long as my character has the mental power to do it, he can call forth supplications. It is in keeping with what my character said, this person calls my character a coward for using aid from beyond herself in the form of the watcher, but in reality is the one using magic from an item. No matter what the mage does, she can't give herself those protections without the wand. It would be the view of my character that using things like that, that one cannot provide for ones self, is a surer sign of weakness than to rely on allies or prayers fulfilled from the gods. My character has no problem with magic per se, but does not rely on it. That was part of the concept I wanted to make with this paladin, someone who was better skilled and used melee more than wrath spam.
Thanks again for the feedback and the responses.
