Not only to some specific supps, but also to their herbs. Humans get an edge to gain the sixth herb, but according to Daev welfs behave as if they have more herbs of a certain type when that herb type count is low. For example, if I have 4 offensive herbs and one utility, then my welf druid still acts like it has 1 defense, 1 wild herb, 1 healing herb. Or something like that anyway.
I might still play a human druid just for the lack of a metal vuln (protection metals only brings you up to neutral or so on it) and the more favorable PK range while a lowbie and bigger range when a hero. But there are definite upsides to a wild elf that can't be overlooked, as mentioned both by Daev and numerous serial druid players who swear up and down that wild elf is the way to go.
