Second, shifters really get a noticable boost from +hit/+dam outside affects.

For example, Alligator hits for OBLITs with a damroll of like 75 (I think?). If you can boost that via preps/bard songs/buffs to 90 (which is relatively managable) you're now hitting ANNIHILATES.
