stone farmhouse sits well back from the road, protected by a high wall
made of mortared stone.  To the south lies a cultivated field filled with
rich, golden wheat, ready for the harvest.  Shimmering faintly, the
ribbon of a wide river is visible to the southeast, flowing down from the
mountains far to the north, and providing a much-needed source of water
for the cultivated fields and pastures that spread out in all directions
to the limit of the horizon.

walls of Galadon to the west, sloping gently as it descends into the
broad river valley of Voralia's Tears to the east.  The rows and furrows of
cultivated fields are visible from this modest height, stretching out to
the limit of the horizon in all directions save west, where the towering
battlement walls of Galadon stand quiet watch.  The breadbasket of Thera,
this region provides the majority of the grain and livestock that feeds
the citizens of Galadon, Voralian City and even distant Hamsah Mu'tazz.

  By far the most congested crossroads of all those that surround Galadon, the
old road has been ground into nothing but dry dirt.  The trail kicks up
clouds of dirt at a step, old trails leading off in all directions.  Farms
fill the countryside, extending as far as the eye can see.  The road east
leads straight across the plains, across the desert to the city of Hamsah
Mu'tazz.  The trail north and south extends around the edge of the city of
Galadon, skirting along its border.  The road west leads into the grand
eastern gate of Galadon.  You notice a small sign off in the tall grass.

  You stand in the small patch of land outside the gates of Galadon that is
still protected by the city guard.  To venture further afield means to lose
the protection of the city.  A long dusty road passes to the east, through a
crossroads toward the mountains and the desert beyond.  As far as you can
see, it stretches straight as an arrow to the horizon.  You can enter the
city to the west.

Inside the East Gate 
  You stand just inside the eastern gate of Galadon.  The city walls arch
over the gate in their path around the city.  Through the gates to the east
you can see the well-traveled road that leads past the Sands of Sorrow to
Hamsah Mu'tazz beyond.  A small staircase leads up one side of the gate to the
battlements above.  To the west, the Market Road leads into the city through
all the shops.

Leaning against the wall, an elite guard watches all who enter the city.

  Gray blocks of varied size form the surface of the Trade Road, the main path
through Galadon from east to west.  Along the southern half of the road you
can see the entrance to Bethany's Beautiful Baubles, the premier jeweler of
the city.  A steady flow of people dressed in travelers garb can be seen,
entering the city from the nearby east gate.  The stained-glass windows and 
door of Demed's Trading Post lie to the north and you can follow Trade Road
towards the Market Square in the west.

  Moving along the main path between the west and eastern edges of Galadon, you
have come near the entrance of the Copeham Inn.  Erected within the city
limits in an attempt to encourage tourism and traveling merchants to come into
the city, it has since been declared a property independent of Galadon's
laws and taxes.  Directly across from the inn's entrance is a wide alley that
is darkened by shadows cast from the massive buildings of the city.  The gray
stone of the Trade Road leads west towards the Market Square and east towards
the gates.

Trade Road 
  Black smoke pours out of the large building to the south, its wide chimney
never getting a moments rest.  The harsh stench of metal sparking carries
across the road from both the north and the south while the hoots and hollers
of blood sport can be heard from the Warrior's Arena.  There is very little
lingering foot traffic along the gray blocks of the Trade Road here as people
either duck into the training hall to spectate or they continue west towards
the market.  Looming along the eastern horizon is the gate of the city that
leads to the great Eastern Road.

Trade Road 
  The gray stones are varied in size and shape, but fit together perfectly to 
form a smooth road across the city.  There is a small transitional section at
the western edge, where the blocks are replaced by hard dirt as the path leads
into the Market Square.  The powerful smell of soot and the clangs of hammer
against metal rise from the south while a small fruit stand can be seen along
the northern edge of the road.  There is a high concentration of people this
close to the square and they seem to disperse in the east as the road nears 
the gate.

Market Square 
  Stretching out in the cardinal directions from this large opening of trampled
dirt are the High and Trade Roads.  Laid out across the outer edge of the
square are booths with many cheap goods from the assorted races of Thera.  It
seems as if the lesser craftsmen of the hubs of a race come to Galadon in an
attempt to peddle their wares to less knowledgeable and wealthier folk.
Closer to the center of the square, you can see small huddles of beggars and
drunkards who attempt and leverage any piece of copper or charity they can
from the masses.

High Road 
  There is a lot of foot traffic from the citizens of Galadon along this point
of the High Road with the hard-packed dirt of the Market Square opening to the
south.  At the east edge of the street the entrance of Wilhelm's Wondrous 
Where's can be seen, the heavy scent of aged parchment and ink rolling from 
within.  The entrance of the Garden Bounty sits to the west while the pristine
blocks of white stone lead further north toward the city park.  At the edge of
the street there are large brass posts with lanterns hung from them to keep 
Galadon lit at all hours.

  Built of perfectly smooth white blocks and free of any stain or imperfection,
the High Road of Galadon is pristine.  Towering over the city in the east is
the Spire of the Blood Tribunal, guards coming and going from its courtyard
as their shifts begin and end.  The street continues further north towards the
park and south to the Market Square.  The calls for donations to help the poor
sound from the west, where the guild of Paladins has been established.  There
are volunteers constantly moving about, tending to the needs of the sick and
downtrodden that have huddled within awaiting charity.

  Comprised of perfectly leveled white stone blocks, the High Road cuts through
the center of Galadon from north to south.  The massive Temple of the Sun is
to the west, its broad square welcoming the downtrodden.  Along either edge of
the road are large brass posts hung with lanterns used to keep the city lit at 
all hours.  There is a small transitional patch just north as the smooth stone
shifts into a rough gravel and hard dirt at the Park Road.  Further in the 
south, the Market Square can be seen.

  A wide band of white gravel surrounds the hardened dirt that comprises the
Park Road.  There is a small transitional area to the south as the crushed
stone turns into the white blocks of the High Road.  A massive fence of metal
can be seen to the north, separating the park from the rest of Galadon.  There
is a faint shimmer from within the enclosure as light reflects off the surface
of the nearby pond.  It is possible to continue along the road to both the 
west and east.

Park Road 
  Comprised primarily of hard-packed dirt, the Park Road circles the grassy
expanse that sprawls across the center of Galadon.  In an attempt to please
all the citizens of the city, a wide path of crushed white gravel has been
placed along the outer edge of the road.  A large fence lies to the north, and
through it the light reflects off the surface of a small pond.  The road heads
to the west and east following the same path as the metal barricade.

  A wide pathway of crushed white gravel surrounds the hard-packed dirt of the
Park Road.  The city planners opted to use a more natural looking, and
feeling, road in an attempt to preserve the illusion of being within nature
while remaining within the city walls.  To the east there is a simple arch
of twisted oak that leads into the square before the Temple of the Moon.
Following alongside the metal fence that surrounds the park, the road leads
further to the west and north.

Temple Square 
  This large, circular-shaped courtyard leads to the Temple of the Moon.  The 
ground is covered in gray stones that are all perfectly symmetrical and placed
directly next to each other so that no gap is present.  Many benches are set 
around tables that reside within the circular area so that those who seek to 
take time to rest here can look up into the sky and see the moon at night. 
Statues cut from bronze line the edges of the courtyard.  At the eastern end 
of the circular area is a round building that takes up that portion of the 
circle.  The chants and hymns coming from the entrance proclaim it to be the 
temple.

     A large, gray stone fountain is here in the Temple of the Moon.
A traveler wanders through here, admiring the city.

The Temple of the Moon 
  This room makes up the northern entrance to the temple.  Originally built to 
allow for the worship of the moon, the outside walls and even the ceilings 
have large windows in them so that those who are within can gaze out.  Light 
curtains that are crafted to diffuse the light hang on either side of these 
openings.  Perfectly square gray stone makes up the walls, floor, and ceilings
of this building and each is placed exactly adjacent to the next so that there
are no gaps between them.  The only exit beyond the entrance to the temple 
leads directly to the room where the altar to the gods of neutrality and the 
moon sits.

  This room is the epitome of neutrality.  The perfectly symmetrical gray stone 
continues to create the walls and floor.  Windows are placed in simple square 
holes in the rock to allow the light to stream through.  A opening in the roof
of the chamber allows the moonlight into the room at night.  In the middle of 
the area is an altar shaped like a crescent moon.  Around the shrine is a moat
that runs until the floors to catch any of the elements that come in through 
the roof.  A small walkway allows access to those who wish to pray at the 
altar.
