A Dark Passage 
  The southern end of the passage leads out of this dark and damp tunnel back
into the world.  This close to the surface, the stench of mold is barely
present, but it wafts in from the darkness to the north.  Damp earth forms the 
walls, floor, and ceiling here but the structure looks strangely stable even
without any visible supports.  It is possible to continue north into the
darkness or return to the outdoors in the south.

  Here is where Imperials gather to drink away their cares.  Servers
move silently, and carefully, from table to table, quite keen not to
upset their patrons, who from their looks, seem as likely to slit a
throat as to have a drink.  The walls are decorated with symbols of
the Imperial Codex and little else.  At the edge of the bar, a 
stairwell leads down to the storage cellar.

Lane of Victory 
  This road seems a bit more noisy than the others in the Imperial Lands.  Voices
ring from the surrounding buildings, building towards pleasure, then ending in
cries of pain.  Each building is marked with a sword and shield inlaid over the
symbol of the Imperial Codex.  The road itself is a perfect black stone, and
seems without blemish.  In fact, there are no ridges or imperfections, giving
the feeling that the entire road is a single piece of stone.  To the west lies
the Owl and the Thistle, a place to drown the numerous sorrows that plague the
lands.

deeply etched to show a huge Symbol of the Imperial Codex.  At each of the
cardinal directions surrounding the Symbol you see smaller representations 
of the individual Sect Symbols.  Each of these details pass quickly, for 
your eye is almost immediately drawn to the black stone cross rising from 
the center of the great Symbol.

Before the Imperial Palace 
  Light from braziers and lampposts illuminate the square like it was midday. 
The roads from the south, east and west converge here to form a great square.
The gates of the Palace lie open to the north.  The square itself is made
from the same fused black stone that all of the Imperial roads seem to be 
constructed from.  However, here the smooth surface of the road has been 
deeply etched to show a huge Symbol of the Imperial Codex.  At each of the 
cardinal directions surrounding the Symbol you see smaller representations 
of the individual Sect Symbols.  Each of these details pass quickly, for 
your eye is almost immediately drawn to the black stone cross rising from 
the center of the great Symbol.
