How ever, being promoted to elite costs gold, also if it was the Emperor doing it, any failure of yours hints at a failure of his (in promoting you in the first place). The Emperor is an arrogant elitist who rules his empire with an iron fist. You got your promotion by catching the Emperors gaze, now while under that gaze you must be the model imperial soldier, citizen and in your case assassin. Fumbling with l/trip is a total retard move (in char), breaking imperial law is a total retard move (but can be forgiven in some circumstances, Turning yourself into the provost, maybe a further sign of weakness, but could also be ok, and then detailing all of that back to the afore mentioned Emperor literally making him look like a retard with your every continued breath? Please tell me you are not upset or surprised by this.
