Have you ever tried fighting Undaraxyl or whatever his name is and Polzar? If not, let me tell you how it works for a paladin. I spend an insane amount of gold at the healer for mana against Polzar in our fights, since I need to re-protect myself constantly, and it's draining. Our fights could literally last an hour if we wanted it to with us just running around. Undaraxyl has spells that are greater level than the NPC healer's heals, im 99% sure. It wasn't out of the ordinary for me to have to spend 30-40 gold at a time trying to cure his scourge.

Add this to the fact that for a maran paladin, it's extremely easy to get gold from the dracolich / rah / whatever i really please, it wasn't like i spent my entire life just farming gold. Also, I'd play late nights, which meant i was bored and no one was logged on. I singlehandedly grab the Codex, Icon, and then nothing to do but get some gold rather than log off.
