Mountainside 
  The vague trail continues along the barren side of the mountain, circling and
twisting around jagged boulders and treacherous cracks and curving somewhat
towards the east.  Hardly any plantlife of any kind can be seen here, the only
few specimens being gnome-sized withered twigs, trying to represent trees. 
Occasionally, the breeze blows a few clouds of mist down from the mountaintops,
temporarily blocking most of your view, but as quickly as they brought the fog
upon you, the winds make it dissipate.  Below you the path goes down very
steeply, but the slope of the mountain seems low enough in the east that you can
proceed there with relative ease.

A Trail Going Along the Mountainside 
  The vague trail goes up and down the barren side of the mountain, circling
and twisting around jagged boulders and treacherous cracks.  Peeking out from
some more clear spots you can see a few dry, twisted trees and bushes,
struggling to survive in these harsh conditions.  Down below the trail seems to
become straighter as it approaches the riverside seen in the west, but the way
up into the mountaintops covered by thin clouds will not be at least easier.

A Trail Going up Into the Mountains 
  A faint trail starts off the riverbank to the west.  It is barely traveled,
covered in small weeds and pebbles, but just enough worn to see it meander up
along the steep mountainside, towards the jagged tops draped in thin clouds.
A few stunted, sad excuses for trees valiantly attempt to grow on the rocky
grounds around you with no great success, some being outsized by the few dry
tufts of tall grass swaying in the wind.  Aside the gurgling of the warm river
and the quiet whispering of the wind, the area seems even ominously quiet,
lacking any sounds of animals or such.  With some effort, you could probably
follow the trail up, or return back to the river.
