On a Bridge Over the Khalid River 
  Firmly anchored to stone supports on either bank, this sturdy wooden
bridge spans the raging waters of the Khalid River that churn below on
their way to the sea.  To the west, a wide and well-traveled stone road
begins at the foot of the bridge, while to the east rise the high walls
and rounded towers of Hamsah Mu'tazz.  The air is hot and arid, the land
rocky, with hearty desert vegetation growing in thick clumps near the
banks of the river.
