Beyond the Outskirts of Galadon 
  Constructed of great slabs of stone, a wide road departs the protective
walls of Galadon to the west, sloping gently as it descends into the
broad river valley of Voralia's Tears to the east.  The rows and furrows of
cultivated fields are visible from this modest height, stretching out to
the limit of the horizon in all directions save west, where the towering
battlement walls of Galadon stand quiet watch.  The breadbasket of Thera,
this region provides the majority of the grain and livestock that feeds
the citizens of Galadon, Voralian City and even distant Hamsah Mu'tazz.

  By far the most congested crossroads of all those that surround Galadon, the
old road has been ground into nothing but dry dirt.  The trail kicks up
clouds of dirt at a step, old trails leading off in all directions.  Farms
fill the countryside, extending as far as the eye can see.  The road east
leads straight across the plains, across the desert to the city of Hamsah
Mu'tazz.  The trail north and south extends around the edge of the city of
Galadon, skirting along its border.  The road west leads into the grand
eastern gate of Galadon.  You notice a small sign off in the tall grass.

see, it stretches straight as an arrow to the horizon.  You can enter the
city to the west.

Inside the East Gate 
  You stand just inside the eastern gate of Galadon.  The city walls arch
over the gate in their path around the city.  Through the gates to the east
you can see the well-traveled road that leads past the Sands of Sorrow to
Hamsah Mu'tazz beyond.  A small staircase leads up one side of the gate to the
battlements above.  To the west, the Market Road leads into the city through
all the shops.

Trade Road 
  Gray blocks of varied size form the surface of the Trade Road, the main path
through Galadon from east to west.  Along the southern half of the road you
can see the entrance to Bethany's Beautiful Baubles, the premier jeweler of
the city.  A steady flow of people dressed in travelers garb can be seen,
entering the city from the nearby east gate.  The stained-glass windows and 
door of Demed's Trading Post lie to the north and you can follow Trade Road
towards the Market Square in the west.

Trade Road 
  Moving along the main path between the west and eastern edges of Galadon, you
have come near the entrance of the Copeham Inn.  Erected within the city
limits in an attempt to encourage tourism and traveling merchants to come into
the city, it has since been declared a property independent of Galadon's
laws and taxes.  Directly across from the inn's entrance is a wide alley that
is darkened by shadows cast from the massive buildings of the city.  The gray
stone of the Trade Road leads west towards the Market Square and east towards
the gates.

Trade Road 
  Black smoke pours out of the large building to the south, its wide chimney
never getting a moments rest.  The harsh stench of metal sparking carries
across the road from both the north and the south while the hoots and hollers
of blood sport can be heard from the Warrior's Arena.  There is very little
lingering foot traffic along the gray blocks of the Trade Road here as people
either duck into the training hall to spectate or they continue west towards
the market.  Looming along the eastern horizon is the gate of the city that
leads to the great Eastern Road.

  The gray stones are varied in size and shape, but fit together perfectly to 
form a smooth road across the city.  There is a small transitional section at
the western edge, where the blocks are replaced by hard dirt as the path leads
into the Market Square.  The powerful smell of soot and the clangs of hammer
against metal rise from the south while a small fruit stand can be seen along
the northern edge of the road.  There is a high concentration of people this
close to the square and they seem to disperse in the east as the road nears 
the gate.

Market Square 
  Stretching out in the cardinal directions from this large opening of trampled
dirt are the High and Trade Roads.  Laid out across the outer edge of the
square are booths with many cheap goods from the assorted races of Thera.  It
seems as if the lesser craftsmen of the hubs of a race come to Galadon in an
attempt to peddle their wares to less knowledgeable and wealthier folk.
Closer to the center of the square, you can see small huddles of beggars and
drunkards who attempt and leverage any piece of copper or charity they can
from the masses.

Trade Road 
  Powerful aromas carry through the air here, the scents of bread and pastries
blending with the rich smells of smoked meats.  Drawing closer to the Market
Square has led to an increased concentration of people as you near the center
of the city.  The gray stone road continues further in the west, towards the
gate, and transitions into hard-packed dirt as it leads into the Market Square
in the east.  At the southern edge of the road the Gelded Turkey looms while 
The Crumbled Crust Bakery can be seen to the north.

Trade Road 
  Bricks of white and gray stone continue to both the east and west as the Trade
Road cuts across the city of Galadon.  The air in this section of the road is 
heavy with arcane energy, seeming to radiate some from the north and heavily 
to the south.  A large building looms along the southern edge of the street 
with a large birch tree growing in the courtyard.  The building to the north 
is made of a strange silvery material and has a slight haze within it.  The 
Trade Road leads closer to the Market Square in the east or towards the gate 
in the west.

  You stand on the main thoroughfare of Galadon, the road connecting the east
gate with the west.  To the north lies Vyni's Vellums, the cities parchment 
shop.  A large gate looms in the west and leads out into the Feanwyyn Weald.
Blocks of gray and white stone have been used to create the road and while
each of pieces varies in size, they all fit together to form a perfectly 
smooth road across the city.  Arguile's Apothecary lies to the south, the
powerful smell of herbs wafting from it, and the Trade Road continues further
to the east.

Lumberjacks drift in both directions, coming and going from the vast forests
to the west.  The road west leads deep into the Feanwyyn Weald,
disappearing among the trees.  The trail north and south extends around the
edge of the city of Galadon, skirting along its border.  The road east leads
into the western gate of Galadon.

  An ancient, crumbling road graces the top of a slight rise here, providing 
you with an unobstructed view of the beautiful expanse of forest that fills

the southwest, where Voralia's Tears bends and snakes through the trees, 
ending its tireless journey in the embrace of a large swamp.  The terrain 
wrinkles and folds to the northwest, forming a small, wooded valley that ends 
in a lonely outcropping of rock.  To the west the road descends into the 
Feanwyyn Weald; to the east lie the stout walls and battlements that guard 
the city of Galadon.

  This clearing looks too regular to be the work of nature.  In the shape of a 
rough square, it is filled with short grass that appears to be well tended.  
Several saplings, mostly dogwood and dwarf maples, cast their shade in 
regular intervals along a wood-chip path that runs from a wide road to the 
north towards the south of the clearing.  A small stream splashes in from the 
north, running alongside the path before veering off into the forest to the 
southeast.  At the south edge of the clearing is a pleasant one-story cabin, 
fronted by a small flower garden.  The air is rich with the scent of flowers, 
wafted towards you on a gentle breeze that stirs the leaves of the saplings.

A Path Through the Feanwyyn Weald 
  A wide, well-worn forest path runs to the north and south here, cutting 
through the Feanwyyn Weald as it skirts the edge of a swampy area of the 
forest.  The heavy, cloying odor of death and decay rises out of the murk, 
mixed with a grayish mist that clings to your clothing and clogs your lungs 
with every breath.  The sunlight seems muted here, peeking only 
intermittently through the twisted branches that claw and scrape the sky 
above you.

A Sodden Marsh 
  A low point in the Feanwyyn Weald, water from the murky Voralia's Tears has 
gathered here for years, transforming this region of the forest into a sodden 
bog.  Gnarled cypress and oak trees squat all around, crowding close 
together, their low branches heavy with hanging vines and stringy moss.  The 
thick canopy quickly swallows up any sunlight foolish enough to try to 
penetrate it, leaving the marsh in a state of perpetual gloom.  A thick, foul 
mist hangs heavy in the air, quickly permeating your belongings and gagging 
you with a sickening stench.  The close growing trees, vines and thick mist, 
coupled with the constant need to carefully watch where you place your feet 
make directions in this place meaningless.  Strange sucking and slurping 
sounds echo occasionally through the swamp, but their origin is a mystery.

A Path Through the Feanwyyn Weald 
  A wide, well-worn forest path runs to the north and south here, cutting 
through the Feanwyyn Weald as it skirts the edge of a swampy area of the 
forest.  The heavy, cloying odor of death and decay rises out of the murk, 
mixed with a grayish mist that clings to your clothing and clogs your lungs 
with every breath.  The sunlight seems muted here, peeking only 
intermittently through the twisted branches that claw and scrape the sky 
above you.

The Feanwyyn Weald 
  Gnarled oaks, maples and elms grow sparsely here, their graceful branches 
diffusing the sunlight and dappling the leaf covered ground with an intricate 
dance of light and shadow.  Where once a majestic forest stood proudly, now 
only a few trees remain, surrounded by wide, broken stumps.  Thick underbrush 
thrives in the sunlight that fills this part of the Feanwyyn Weald, small 
saplings and thorny bushes flourishing between the stumps and few remaining 
hardwood trees.  The normal sounds of the forest are hauntingly absent here, 
creating an eerie silence.  The scent of fresh sap and sawdust fills your 
nostrils, a mixture that seems out of place in the Feanwyyn Weald.

A Bend in the Murky River 
  A slowly moving river slips leisurely through the trees of the Feanwyyn Weald 
here, flowing from the south to the west.  A gentle breeze carries with it 
the earthy aroma of the forest, mingled with the fresh scent of the river 
water.  The land rises steeply to the north, and the broad valley formed by 
centuries of flowing water spreads out to the east, south and west.

Beneath a Footbridge Over the Murky River 
  A slowly moving river passes beneath a simple, wooden footbridge here, 
flowing from the east to the west.  Plain, rough-cut river rocks have been 
piled along the north and south banks to form the footbridge foundations.  A 
large pile of brush and branches has been snagged by one of the bridge's 
center supports, forming an ineffective dam.

A Sodden Marsh 
  A low point in the Feanwyyn Weald, water from the murky Voralia's Tears has 
gathered here for years, transforming this region of the forest into a sodden 
bog.  Gnarled cypress and oak trees squat all around, crowding close 
together, their low branches heavy with hanging vines and stringy moss.  The 
thick canopy quickly swallows up any sunlight foolish enough to try to 
penetrate it, leaving the marsh in a state of perpetual gloom.  A thick, foul 
mist hangs heavy in the air, quickly permeating your belongings and gagging 
you with a sickening stench.  The close growing trees, vines and thick mist, 
coupled with the constant need to carefully watch where you place your feet 
make directions in this place meaningless.  Strange sucking and slurping 
sounds echo occasionally through the swamp, but their origin is a mystery.
