No that was a fair use of it. If he had kept to dagger he'd of won that.

It is a good strawman tactic to use to try and act like we are crazy by pointing out a legitimate use of bloodthirst. Warrior that can kill you in a fair fight versus a build that has zero chance of killing you without bloodthirst but you do it to make sure you can get the free frag.
