carved from the same ashen stone as the walls of this place stands tall, a
great pile of books amid its shelves, many in ancient and foreign tongues.

  The first thing you notice about this place is not what it looks like, but
what it feels like.  Sound is somehow amplified yet dampened, bursting forth
louder than you would anticipate, then stripped naked of its echoes, dying
suddenly into nothingness.  The air seems thick with some substance you
cannot smell or taste, yet a substance you are certain is somehow present,
perhaps in a dimension or place into which you have not yet learned to peer.
The only fixture in this place is a severe table, cut sharp-edged from
blackened stone, and a set of complementing chairs that surrounds it.  The
surface of the table is smooth, barring a single inscription.
