  You are standing in the middle of a wide, perfectly straight road paved
with white bricks. The avenue runs east-west through the southern part
of the city, from the gate to Sutherspring to the gate Orum's Field. On
either side of the road stand large stone buildings, butting up against
the sides of their neighbors. While each building is different from the
next, they all seem to flow together in a neat orderly pattern, giving
the city not only beauty, but continuity. The door leads into a long,
official-looking hall to the north, while to the south, heraldic crests
welcome entry through a narrow door.

2The Great Square of the Phoenix
  This magnificent square is covered by a huge arch. A shining steel pillar
rises up from each of the four corners where the avenues meet, curving
gradually into a peak far above your head. A massive effigy of a phoenix
perches on the top of the peak, facing to the north where it looks out
over nearly the entire city. Beneath the arch, in the center of the
intersection is a decorative marble fountain, with a spray of water
shooting several feet into the air before landing in the basin below.
The great avenues extend from the square in all four cardinal directions.

course through the city from here, easily seen by the evenly spaced lights

The Plaza of the Shining Fount
  You stand in one of the many squares dotting Voralian City. Alabaster bricks
encircle around a shining fount, in the center of which is a valiant-looking
knight standing over a fallen troll, with one boot rested on the carcass,
while one arm raises a sword triumphantly. Before Voralian rebuilt the ruins
here, a legend claimed that a mighty troll was slain by the founder of the
old city, on this very spot and that a spring formed where the monster fell.
You can leave the square in the four cardinal directions. The streets run
south and east, while the city gate lies to the west. To the north, a variety
of wooden toys are on display in the window of a small shop.

between a bridge to the west and a dim Square to the east. The metal of the
gate itself glints brightly, yet details are hard to see even in the light
of the torches. The stone of the gate tower is little more than a mosaic
of dancing shadows as the flames of the torches flicker in the night. Yet
despite how little the light seems to reveal, you have a sense that this
is a place of security.

Tranquility Promenade. To the north, you see a humble inn, over which hangs
an oval wooden sign depicting a solitary monk kneeling in prayer. To the
west, tall white columns mark the entrance to the city's treasury.

The Square of the Ki-Rin
  This Plaza is more of a garden than an intersection of roads. The Avenues
are connected by a ring around the central garden, which takes up most of the
space. There are perfectly straight rows of manicured flowers and shrubs,
dotted with the occasional sapling or wooden lattice with ivy growing up it.
A huge statue of a ki-rin rears up in the middle of the park, mane and tail
flowing out grandly behind it. A huge gate leads out of the city to the east,
while roads extend to the south and west. To the north lies a small, cramped
shop.

the dome atop the building somehow catching the faint light of the street
lamps. The avenue runs a northerly course through the city from here,
easily seen by the evenly spaced lights. To the south the avenue ends at
a square with a statue of white stone amidst a large garden.

The Cathedral of the Holy Light
  This is the northern end of a large cathedral erected by the knights of
the Voralian Order. Though the knights follow the teachings of Lady
Voralia, worship is preserved for the gods. As such, this cathedral is
void of symbols of the mortal lady, and instead dedicated to the essence
of light and the gods that patron it. Light seems to permanently shine
through a large stained glass window that extends the full height of the
cathedral, which depicts a nondescript humanoid with arms raised, basking
in beams of golden light. To the south, you see a breathtaking altar,
while to the east you can return to the Avenue of Faith.

  You stand in the foyer of a large chapel. The domed ceiling rises far above
you, ending in panes of stained glass which filter through outside light in
a myriad of colors. The floor is a tile mosaic depicting the pantheon of
gods. The walls are lined with swords, axes, shields and various holy symbols.
Aside from that the beautiful church is bare, without even a bench to rest on.
An archway to the south is inscribed with sayings from various faiths and
quotes from famous military generals. You can pass through the archway, or
go back out to the Avenue of Faith to the east. To the north, a narrow
arch leads to the altar room of the main cathedral.

  Crushed white stone, somewhat scattered and contained by stone borders, forms
a path that runs to the north and south along the stone wall of a large
building to the east.  The smooth marble walls of the nave and transept of
the temple itself rise up to the southwest, seeming to sparkle as the light
of the sun plays upon their surfaces.  The path border to the west is absent,
giving way to thick grass that surrounds a beautiful marble fountain.

sound of splashing water rides on a soft breeze, emanating from this
direction as well.  A dirt track breaks off from the path and runs to the
north towards a jagged breach in the temple compound wall.  The sturdy wall
of a large stone building stands to the east.

A Dirt Track
  Rich green grass carpets this section of the temple compound, broken only by
a worn dirt track that runs between a path of crushed white stone to the
south and a jagged breach in the temple compound wall to the north.  One end
of a large stone building abuts itself against the remaining portion of the
outer wall to the east.  To the west is an ornate shrine, planted firmly on
the grass that continues in that direction.  A slight breeze passes through
the breach, flowing to the south, carrying with it the fresh scent of the
mountains.

A Windswept Cliff
  The view from this cliff outside the temple compound is incredible.  The
peaks of the mountains that surround the valley march off to the west, north
and east, rising up to scrape the sky.  The steep wall of the valley to the
northeast is filled with a floe of ice that glistens brightly in the sunlight
as it slowly feeds the waters of the Loch.  Large birds of prey can be seen
soaring in the currents and updrafts that fill the mountains.  The air is
chilly, fed by the snow that caps the surrounding peaks.

  This cliff juts out from the top of the isle, providing a large area outside
the temple compound walls that is still unreachable from the ground.  The
view here is spectacular, the deep blue waters of the Loch lapping gently
against the steep walls of the valley, glistening in the sunlight.  A large
flow of ice glistens in the sunlight, creeping down the valley slope to the
northeast as it slowly feeds the Loch.  Several large stones lie about, along
with a few wooden benches that are in good repair.
