Often it drops you to 1 hp, from whatever you are at.

So basically you need to unlag before the tick and heal enough to take the damage from faceslash, poison or whatever, before it goes through.

I remember killing people outside of my pk as an AP like that. Never got charges, but always wondered if it was possible. (The echo was like that you get from someone not worth any charges.)
