Sooo, we have stuff in the pit. If there is a defender of the fortress that doesn't have the assistance or gold to stop a retrieval or raid, and they use all this equipment that is sitting uselessly in the donation chest to pay for healing, then they are serving the better interest of the Fortress, all the weak, good people they defend, and heck, the Light Itself. This is yay. Elven maidens rejoice and splash each other in idyllic woodland brooks, and their nipples pop out a little bit.

If our hypothetical defender doesn't use that equipment that is Sitting Uselessly Around, there's a better chance s/he'll die like an average Fort chump, and the bad guys will get their cabal powers back, or hold the orb. This is elven maidens getting eaten by orcs, and they don't have nipples anymore.

I understand what you're thinking about leaving stuff for others, but seriously: being a goodie doesn't mean being a doormat to the point of idiocy. "What if some dumbass *MIGHT* be able to use this piece of gear" vs. "I can heal myself to try to beat Kostyan off right now" is a no-brainer value judgment. You can always go get the piece of gear off the mob once it resets. You can get another piece of fucking gear. You're not going to find the goddamn Strange Bracers in the pit and barter them for healing. Also, all the shit in there will disappear in a crash or reset, anyway. Then you're a double fucktard for not employing it when it could have made a difference.
