city rise towards the sky, providing protection from the harsh climate
as well as from marauding armies that would threaten the subjects of the
Sultan who dwells within.

and merchants that come and go through the city using the Eastern Road.  Armed
soldiers guard the gate, a warning to all who would challenge the Sultan's
law.

  To the south of here following this road, a massive, arched gateway leads
into a large, desert city.  A huge iron portcullis can be lowered and raised
within the portal to defend the city or allow the merchants and travelers
that use this road to enter.  To the north the road leads into the dry,
sandy woods that lie beneath the foothills of distant mountains.  Guards
walk the causeway above the city gates armed with bows.

Inside the Gate of Yasaar
  Between the walls of stone and iron spears that surround the northern reach
of the city sits the Gate of Yasaar, a high arch of carved stone and gilded
ornaments.  Massive iron gates can be lowered and raised to block and permit
passage to the road leading north out of the city.  A patio of stones laid
out in mandala patterns across the threshold extends for twenty paces into 
the city into Yasir Row to the south.  West of here lies the building of the
blacksmith.  To the east lies a street bordered by beautiful gardens.

a pillar rises to display a monstrous sandstone lion, reclining in regal
might.

Eastern Steps of the Great Temple
  Each step that leads up to the Great Temple is seven spans across, wide
enough for the Sultan's infantry units to march up and into the holy chambers
beyond.  Gigantic earthen vessels line the steps, matched pairs burning
blessed sage and scented woods and sending sweet-smelling smoke towards the
heavens.  At the top of the steps tower caryatid columns, each maiden veiled
and bearing a curved sword.  An arched frame carved with the Saints of the
First Age is balanced on their heads and serves as a stage for the dome of 
colored glass that lies up and over the painted statues above.  To the east
lies the crowded city market.

  Here on the main floor of the Great Temple, the crepuscular light that
filters down through the upper arches beneath the dome of colored glass and
the delicate stone images of the Theran gods illuminates the painted tiles
that adorn the consecrated walk around the Temple perimeter.  An alcove of
lit candles burns to the west, where prayers to the Gods of the Morning
hang from beaded cords like a suspended liturgical library.  Archways lead
north and south through the Temple proper.  To the east a flight of long
stone steps leads down to the chaos of the city's market.

  The Sultan's city is not only a center of religious zeal, but also of
learning.  Beside the tiled walk that leads the devout through the ground
floor of the Great Temple sit the prayer rugs of those that meditate before
the hallowed shrines of learning, enlightenment, and revelation.  Scholars
and priests alike gather here as do the hopeless, the lost, and those in 
need of understanding.  The twilight light from above filters down onto 
those that prostrate themselves among these blessed shrines, illuminating
them with an unworldly glow.  The walk leads north and west of here.

seven Sultans of the city, each portrayed smaller than the First, despite

offering to the spirits of greatness passed.  Priests and mystics gather at
the edges of the tiled walk that leads through the temple, discussing works
of faith, debating the differences between warring religions, and discussing
news from abroad.

  Here at the heart of the Great Temple, a wide circular dais mirrors the
sweeping curves of the dome of colored glass high above.  Large enough to

a glowing ring around the altar to the desert city's pantheon of deities, 
separating the blessed from the profane.  Large urns of smoked glass and
darkened iron serve as receptacles for donations to the Temple and the city's

head to foot in dark silks which he has used to cover his armors.
His hood covers most of his facial features in shade, but it is 
easy to discern he is felar from the long gray tail twitching
behind him. As a slight breeze blows back his cloak you notice
the rows of sharpened daggers he wears at his belt. He seems
well prepared for battle at a moment's notice. Stepping to the
edge of the light, he comes into better view. The fur which 
covers his body is gray in color. It can be seen protruding in 
tufts in the gaps where his armor meet. He turns his head to the
side giving you a better look at his face. Large eyes shift from
side to side keeping focus on the surrounding horizon. They seem
to glow slightly from an internal light. You know this is simply
the reflection of the dim light around him, but still it gives
him a menacing appearance as he emerges from the darkness. Raising
his head to the sky he takes a deep breath as if checking for
any scent on the passing winds. He flexes his long claws and
reaching to his back places a firm grip upon the hilt of the
large sword he carries there. He lowers his gaze upon you and
nods slightly, letting you know he has noticed your attention.
Running his tongue across his extremely large fangs he looks
at you hungrily.

flying around the room, which can be rather distracting.

  This Staircase is one of the less assuming features of the castle.  You
would actually hasten to add that is was rather ordinary.  Just a plain
old spiral stone staircase.  Alongside the staircase you also notice
a drop, just a hole in the ground.  It is probably where the arials float
down to the dungeons below, when their strand affinity for walking leaves
them.
