intersects two decidedly different roads here.  To the north is a shady
lane that slopes slightly upwards as it transforms itself into Bramblefield
Road.  Constructed of a multitude of flat stones, the wide road to the
south runs through a sparse forest of twisted and stunted trees.  Both
the western and eastern segments run straight as a bow shot towards the
horizon, dividing the dwarf forest to the south from the cultivated fields
and pastures to the north.  A few wagons and carts are visible in a dusty
clearing just off the road to the southwest.

An Opening in the Stone Road
  Before you is a vast forest that extends to the far reaches of the south.  
In the gloom, it almost appears to be inpenetrable, however you see small
shafts of light that peak through the canopy of leaves above your head. 
A great road has been crafted here, large flat stones make up the face
of the road that winds its way through the canopy of trees here.   An 
array of stagnant air fill the gloom and you almost feel as if this 
may contribute to the cause of the stunted growth of these trees.  You
can turn back north, toward a worn road or continue south toward the gloom
of the forest.

  In a dusty clearing carved out of the stunted trees of the dwarf forest,
a small market for the local farmers has sprung to life.  Relying on the
near-constant flow of travelers between the surrounding cities, a farmer
could most likely make a pretty good living here, assuming they can
survive near constant assaults by bloodthirsty adventurers.  Several
carts and wagons filled with local produce lie scattered about the
clearing in no particular order, various hand-made signs posted on them
proclaiming loudly that each vendor has the freshest food of them all.

  A huge temple has been carved out of this cavernous chamber. High
above a graceful dome has been painstakingly carved into the rock, and
inlaid with a pale white marble. Along the east and west walls of this
enormous chamber huge flowing tapestries displaying the symbols of the
Brigade and the Acolytes are majesticly draped. It is within this 
chamber that meetings are held and praises to the Light are offered up
by the devout.  Though well lit, an even brighter light spills in from
a stone archway to the north.

obtrusive places several stout chests have been placed for spare gear, and 
donations for others of the Light.  An aura of serenity seems to hang in

  A huge temple has been carved out of this cavernous chamber. High
above a graceful dome has been painstakingly carved into the rock, and
inlaid with a pale white marble. Along the east and west walls of this
enormous chamber huge flowing tapestries displaying the symbols of the
Brigade and the Acolytes are majesticly draped. It is within this 
chamber that meetings are held and praises to the Light are offered up
by the devout.  Though well lit, an even brighter light spills in from
a stone archway to the north.

The Council Chamber
  This huge chamber is the meeting hall of the Fortress. Used for
both planning of assaults and general fellowship amongst the 
members of both halls. A huge symbol of the fortress has been
inlaid on the northen wall. It is not by accident that it is 
here where the Hall of the Acolytes intersects with the Hall of
the Brigade. A long spiral staircase, carved out of the mountain
itself leads far up inside the mountain.

land seems rich and the crops grow like weeds because this is part of the 
rivers flood plain. As you cross this field you see a large pile of rocks and 
realize that to work this land first it would have had to have been cleared of
all the rocks that litter the ground. To the south you see a few houses.

business.  All the buildings are done in while tile, reflecting the glaring
sun in brilliant color.  To the north you see rows and rows of plowed fields
where most of the food you see sold comes from. To the west stands the Sirine
Inn, from which pours sounds of raucous laughter and music.

massive West Charity Gate lies just to the east of you, and beyond that you
see a large fountain and a statue surrounded by flowers. The bridge itself
is obviously beautifully crafted of ancient bricks of pure white stone,
though it shows signs of centuries of weathering and use. The section
nearest the city appears to have been damaged and subsequently repaired at
some point. You can make out the rooftops of a small village to the west.

  In the glaring light of a pair of long torches a massive gate rises from
between a bridge to the west and a dim Square to the east. The metal of the
gate itself glints brightly, yet details are hard to see even in the light
of the torches. The stone of the gate tower is little more than a mosaic
of dancing shadows as the flames of the torches flicker in the night. Yet
despite how little the light seems to reveal, you have a sense that this
is a place of security.

The Plaza of the Shining Fount
  You stand in one of the many squares dotting Voralian City. Alabaster bricks
encircle around a shining fount, in the center of which is a valiant-looking
knight standing over a fallen troll, with one boot rested on the carcass,
while one arm raises a sword triumphantly. Before Voralian rebuilt the ruins
here, a legend claimed that a mighty troll was slain by the founder of the
old city, on this very spot and that a spring formed where the monster fell.
You can leave the square in the four cardinal directions. The streets run
south and east, while the city gate lies to the west. To the north, a variety
of wooden toys are on display in the window of a small shop.

  This is a small stretch of road leading the small city square to the west,
through to the perimeter of the Voralian City Gardens to the east. Thick
white bricks are fitted tightly together to form the road, and extend west
towards a plaza where you spy a statue of a victorious knight, beyond which
you can make out West Charity Gate leading towards the bridge beyond. To
the east, a wrought-iron fence marks the border of a delightful park, which
you can follow to the south along Tranquility Promenade. To the north, you
see a humble inn, over which hangs a wooden sign cut into the shape of a 
sailboat.

of well tended plants growing in a distinct pattern. Rising from the exact
center of the garden is a statue of a woman crafted of white stone standing
atop a fountain of stacked flagstones. A double-row of lights lead off in
every direction but east, easily identifying the avenues which traverse the
city. To the east a massive gate tower rises, the arcing form of a bridge
just visible beyond.

  In the glaring light of a pair of long torches a massive gate rises from

of dancing shadows as the flames of the torches flicker in the night. Yet
despite how little the light seems to reveal, you have a sense that this
is a place of security.

  Arcing high over a river that you hear more than see in the darkness, the
ancient white stone of the bridge seems to glow with its own soft inner

windows. To the west the bridge ends at a massive gate tower illuminated
by the bright light of a pair of flaring torches.

  The quiet plaza that is the focal point of village affairs is tended to
more like a private garden.  Trees encircle the cobblestone terrace and white

the town hall, small but formally dressed.  Other homes lie at the edge of 
the square, facing the gathering place of its folk.  The gentle voices of the
women by the well mingle with the laughter of the children hiding behind the
trees.

The gates themselves appear ornamental, made of finely crafted steel bars
with thin veins of gold spiraling up each one. The top is adorned with
delicate filigree and set with the Holy Symbol of Voralian. As you glance
up, however, you spot an incredibly thick iron portcullis recessed into the
stone of the gatehouse. Apparently, everything about these gates isn't
ornamental. The a lovely plaza lies to the west, while a high arching
bridge leads east out of the city.

The Plaza of the Hummingbird
  This plaza is more of a garden than an intersection of roads. The avenues
are connected by a ring around the central garden, which takes up most of
the space. There are perfectly straight rows of manicured flowers and shrubs,
dotted with the occasional sapling or wooden lattice with ivy growing up it.
A huge statue of a radiant, stern woman is in the middle, a tiny hummingbird
flitting above her outstretched hand. Beneath the statue is a small fountain
that trickles gently down a stack of flagstone into a small basin near the
road. A huge gate leads out of the city to the east.

rises up from each of the four corners where the avenues meet, curving
gradually into a peak far above your head. A massive effigy of a phoenix
perches on the top of the peak, facing to the north where it looks out
over nearly the entire city. Beneath the arch, in the center of the
intersection is a decorative marble fountain, with a spray of water
shooting several feet into the air before landing in the basin below. 
The great avenues extend from the square in all four cardinal directions.

can see gentle ripples drifting along the surface of the water. There,
cargo and passenger boats gather, their captains awaiting permission to
dock or launch. The docks continue to the east and west, while an avenue
leads to the north.
