  Across the walls of the shop hang fresh cuts of meat, catch pans along
the floor catching the oozing blood dripping from the merchandise.
Beyond a battered curtain of beads at the back of the shop lies the
slaughter room.  A heavy chunk of flesh lies on the chopping block next
to the counter, ready for the butcher's handiwork.  The cries of animals
in the midst of death at the hands of the butcher's assistants occasionally
pierce the drone of the crowds outside.

interlocking paving stones.  Leading north around the Garden District,

and the homes and gardens of the wealthy to the other side.  Just off the
road to the west a weaponsmith does business out of a redecorated military
post.

  Beneath the flowering trees of the Garden District, Yasir Row leads north
of here to the Gate of Yasaar and south towards the city market.  Servants
of the city nobility trot along the road running errands for their masters
who live in the elegant homes nestled in the parks to the east.  To the
west, under the palace walls lies an armory in a lofty stone structure worn
with time.  To the east, under the trees, an art dealer has set up shop in
a two story stone and wood building.

  Between the walls of stone and iron spears that surround the northern reach
of the city sits the Gate of Yasaar, a high arch of carved stone and gilded
ornaments.  Massive iron gates can be lowered and raised to block and permit
passage to the road leading north out of the city.  A patio of stones laid
out in mandala patterns across the threshold extends for twenty paces into 
the city into Yasir Row to the south.  West of here lies the building of the
blacksmith.  To the east lies a street bordered by beautiful gardens.

  Here at the heart of the city the din of the crowds mingles with barkers
and traders and drunken sailors on shore leave.  A large fountain spreads
across the square in a shape of a six pointed star and many people sit along
the raised stone edge above the cool waters engaged in conversation.  
Wandering among the merchants, jugglers, snake charmers, prostitutes and
clergymen you find your hands clasped tightly around your purse for fear of

with time.  To the east, under the trees, an art dealer has set up shop in

  Between the walls of stone and iron spears that surround the northern reach
of the city sits the Gate of Yasaar, a high arch of carved stone and gilded
ornaments.  Massive iron gates can be lowered and raised to block and permit
passage to the road leading north out of the city.  A patio of stones laid
out in mandala patterns across the threshold extends for twenty paces into 
the city into Yasir Row to the south.  West of here lies the building of the
blacksmith.  To the east lies a street bordered by beautiful gardens.

your eye is almost immediately drawn to the black stone cross rising from 
the center of the great Symbol.

The gates of the Palace lie open to the north.  The square itself is made
from the same fused black stone that all of the Imperial roads seem to be
constructed from.  However, here the smooth surface of the road has been
deeply etched to show a huge Symbol of the Imperial Codex.  At each of the
cardinal directions surrounding the Symbol you see smaller representations 
of the individual Sect Symbols.  Each of these details pass quickly, for 
your eye is almost immediately drawn to the black stone cross rising from 
the center of the great Symbol.
