Anything that happens to you is your own fault, you should have done something prevent it. If you can't prevent it, that's also your own fault, not anybody else's. If a baby dies of starvation because it's mother tossed it out in the woods, that's the baby's fault, and it's the baby's fault it is powerless.

That said, I probably would have left him be had I been playing any other character. It's sort of like how I had to force myself to RP poorly when I played Burork, even when I WANTED to be serious for a moment.
