Unless you're just winning or have healing behind you, dish out the damage. He's bleeding, he can't heal, so keep whittling him down. He'll eventually die. Also, catching up to a thirsting rager is easy, just walk into them. It makes chasing them when they do run away pretty dang easy.

And, lag is diminished sometimes when they thirst.
