And believe it or not, he was making a point about CF's learning curve and reliance on the RNG.
Probably more than one of us has lost a ranking group this way to an overly aggressive PKer that will not log off until everyone in his PK range is cleared and, to be handled 1v1, requires an extremely specific build that probably doesn't exist at that moment (or they would have lost a set like that at least once) and they will disappear the moment they smell a semi-competent group not interested in PK looking for them that isn't a dude he pasted pretending to be a newbie on Eastern with a thief and an assassin in hiding. The playerbase is officially low enough now that you will not find another vet who is slightly more skilled than the newbie farmer, who is playing a hiding class with an exquisite sense of timing on how to fuck over mister level 15-20 warrior or some shit.
This is especially true if you're a lowbie mage. Lowbie mages only kill stupid people, or people with gaping vulns/low saves to exploit. Luckily, the lowbie ranges are rife with these people, but human/drow muter #4398568 isn't going to kill stacked flail/mace wielding human/giant #8102 because of a lack of damage reduction at that level, he has a greater chance of DYING in that conflict even if it's 2v1, just by the 'hit x' command. Maybe he'll kill the duergar since he's dumb but the giant has better HP and a higher damage potential with no -str to offset the racial 25. That's just one example of a mismatch, a mismatch can be easily created at the low levels by warriors, shaman/druids (both empowered and unempowered) and assassins, and some thieves, all of which who know or can 100% nullify any lagging moves the opponent might have, or be exploiting free built-in dam redux.
At any rate what he's saying is when all of the answers boil down to luck, which getting friends is precisely what that means: even if you have them, you have to have the devil's own luck for the lowbie PKer to both be stupid enough to walk into the fight and not have him simply survive it with flee;q return, or they boil down to tactics that are not only unusual, but to be so horribly outside the box of normal thinking as to be arcane for the average skill level, something is wrong.
It's also why the lowbie playerkillers are mocked by half the playerbase that includes 0 Imms because the general consensus is that most of those folks are going to get pasted at hero, and not only that, pasted often enough that they will either delete or con-die. This isn't always true, but for most folks playing anything that isn't a transmuter, hiding class, empowerment class or off/air shifter, it usually is.
