  The spaciousness of this guildhall is matched only by the boldness of the
use of materials within; the massive wooden staircase that fills the eastern
end of the foyer, the striking green and black stone blocks mounted on the
walls in a staggered pattern, the rough-hewn floor inlaid with honey-colored
enamel.  The ceiling slopes inward from west to east above the large doors
that lead to the street, the upper section of the structure built more like
a tower than a hall.
