Kharnial - got tiger and trapdoor. Got tiger with luck. Trapdoor blew.
In fact, I used tiger 100%. I made a shifter. Not a 'power build'
Knacnar - polearm/sword drive/greetings. You wouldn't consider it a power build unless I did it, I think. No one's done it before, and it worked amazingly well for me. 116 Mage kills, 272 non mage kills. I wouldn't call that an 'overwhelming' majority - that's like 43%. In fact, Daevryn himself even said 'I wouldn't try this build, but it seems to work for this guy.' Furthermore, it's not my fault that a crapload of nexuns were warriors.
By your definition, a power build would be something that has inherent 'power' abilities. "Because even if you die and get full looted, you still have deathblow, trophy and damage reduction, or sleek rods, despoil and a really good forms, etc. "
Then:
1) Any mage with abs
2) Any berserker
3) Any Villager
4) Any goodies, with request
5) Any
6) Any
You make these assumptions without speaking of what a 'normal' build would be - you're assessment is simply what you believe a power build is, which has the implication that it's stronger than a 'normal build'.
So what's a 'normal build'?
Shamans have inherent sanc/cures - even if they're full looted, they have sanc/cures.
Same with Druids.
Aps have sleep/abs. Even if they die, they can easily sleep/vault/loot. In fact, Aps are amongst the easiest to reequip with. A power build then?
Thieves - uh, blackjack/steal.
I'll let you in on a secret. I was able to take on those groups because those groups were rather..stupid. Uncoordinated. Easily let me mess with them.
There was a group of three scions that handed me my ass quite a few times. Quicksand + bleeding + right snare + air form = death.
There's no such thing as a 'power' build. Anyone can do what I did, if they had the balls and really thought of the mechanics of the game and when to fight/when not to fight.
But they think 'oh wow, I'm going to fight 3 rangers with ambush, better run out'. I though, with Knacnar and Ghrummin, 'gonna fight 3 rangers. Gonna drive one, boneshatter all, drum.' Or 'I'm gonna fight 2 paladins, an invoker, a muter, and a warrior. Warrior can't cranial - will probably maledict. Can prep with resist positive/abs against the paladins. Invoker is a joke - just dispel his ass. I can easily get -50 save vs paralysis with a prep and 3 items. Easy retrieval.'
I play tactfully, not just the crazy go against 5 with no way out. Shit, I'd be hard pressed to think about fighting 2 mace specs.
Play against their weaknesses. Something 90% of the players don't do. Or rather, they do, but only in the most fundamental level (ie lightning vs arial).
