Yes. I know shield and stone skin and fly and haste and protection and resist and enlarge and reduce and all sorts of preps for warriors. Even more for classes that can use scrolls.....
But as my ability to put in long hours of play has waned, so has my already limited desire to be such a prepwhore.
Am I the only one who sees a log of a power-gamy combo warrior prep-whore # 87390521...and just goes "bleh"
We are just playing different games. I like interesting or rarely played combos...and stepping into the minds of the strange people that have a reason to become those combos and becoming them for a while.
When I do that is when I have the most fun. Not that I am saying the whole powergameyprepwhore isn't a valid method of deriving fun from the game. Sure, if that's your funstick...go for it. But when I'm playing the chars that I have the most fun in, I'd have to do a few hours of unfun to stand a chance against "shielded armageddon fire empire war #9"
So I find myself just ignoring them, and refusing any interaction with them. Because we are playing vastly different games. Is it fun for those types to run up on the chars played by players of my types...who architectually have zero chance...and steamrolling them? Or do they just have fun by fighting others that give them a run for their money? Or both?
I guess cf is cool for allowing both kinds of players avenues to have fun. I just (and yes, am repeating) get a complete "bleh" feeling and ignore that kind. Am I alone here?
