what I see here is not the villager being underpowered, but rather a bad choice of tactics. Why woudl you entwine a person who is out-meleeing you? Even if you are hasted once you entwine you fuck up your dodge and you are left with one weapon. There are much better things to do in combat, like strip, and eyejab to stop dagger specs from re-engaging. Choke, drag the fight, let his preps drop. But entwine? Not a good choice unless you know you have a high chance of winning, and in this case he really didn't.
