Pincersvirf villager is, and dont pretend this isn't true, an almost autopilot build. So are shifters/conjurers while in combat. Very little decision making occurs other than who to fight and your preps.
You get into combat and fucking spam rake, or you spam pincer and hope nothing goes wrong.
You are right that you can play those things on auto-pilot and possibly get some level of sucess. But even in the case of a shifter there are lions that are easy to beat and lions that rape your face off with the same preps/gear.
actually killing people has a whole hell of a lot to do with how you frame fights and there are large variations in how good players are at accomplishing that even with same gear/preps/game knowledge/builds.
