I always figured that was the most important thing to my character. It always seemed to me that the village was more at war with the island than vice versa. If nexus were at war with the village for wanting to eliminate magic, they should be at war with Fort for wanting to eliminate evil, Empire for wanting to eliminate chaos, etc. so, I fought villagers when I came across them but I aimed to fix the balance first. Just my .02 on the subject.
