The line of reasoning you're using to talk about loot and guarding the corpse is the same line of reasoning people (including myself) use to not multi-kill. I think it makes the game more fun to come back to a mostly full corpse.
From the opposite RP angle, you're a predator roaming the wild who multi-kills, why do you guard a corpse? Why do you think it is okay for a predator to guard a corpse but not leave a weaker prey alone after having proven your superiority? I can understand doing it for the sake of the fun stick, but that's the same reason we don't multi-kill without reason.
