Already knew this growing up around them, but this is the first study I've seen of it.

In America there seems to be this hero worship of anyone who is wealthy, that somehow it makes them better people and harder working than everyone else. I would say a good chunk(not all of course) of them are just more willing to do whatever shady shit it takes to be "successful". Usually the higher up the food chain the more ruthless they are. I remember the president of the US offices of my company telling me it's not what they know it's what they can prove, even though we turned him in for outright embezzlement the company didn't press charges and let him go with a golden parachute because he had dirt on the CEO. Ah the American dream.

I disliked the Jobs movie too. nt

It's a bullshit study though if you read it.

I agree the sample size was lacking, but I disagree about not being able to extrapolate from it. San Fran is a diverse major city it's not like it was people from bumfuck idaho.

It needs a lot more controls.

Death_Claw August 20, 2013 10:50AM

I like how you used Baltimore.

zannon August 21, 2013 05:29AM

Well, Baltimore 20 minutes from where I live.

Death_Claw August 21, 2013 12:24PM

And I'm also curious for you science-types how this happens.

Death_Claw August 20, 2013 10:58AM

To be honest I think stastically sample size does not have to be as big and geographically varied as you think. Quick link inside.

ORB August 21, 2013 05:13AM

Sure it does.

Death_Claw August 21, 2013 12:25PM

Pfft, statistics.. Better to have two anecdotes and be absolutely certain. nt

Flipside Oreo August 21, 2013 05:59AM

Statistics are great but the problem is...

Death_Claw August 21, 2013 12:42PM

And for fun I'll throw in an anecdote.
