Work at home Data Entry jobs, urban myth?

I'm a 2nd semester sophmore in college, and have been living off 60$ (withdrawn mondays) a week for a year... which is hard when you have a girlfriend.

I've heard people on games/forums talk about working from home ect. doing typing like data entry... but when somthing sounds too good to be true, it honestly usually is. (CLICK 10,000 ADS FOR US AND WE WILL MAIL YOU 100$ WE PROMISE) That would rock seeing as I type 10000 wpm because of CF.

I was wondering if anyone knew if anything like that was real and obtainable, or just an urban myth spread around by computer gaming nerds like me as a fantasy.
