do you define strong as in deadly or tough to kill.
I mean an arial sword/hand defender with dance/ward would be pretty tough to kill but not likely to be all that deadly.
or you got the fire empire sword/axe trapping/cry that can take down people very well with a good flurry but is vulnerable to a lot of things.
if your fighting at high levels against groups it can be hugely useful. I mean feint one attack from 3 warriors and that could mean a lot of damage prevented.
but i actually had the last village orc and the combo was very strong. Downside is you couldn't use enslave or horde or at least thats what the imms of the time said.

plenty of despoil items are really just not that hard to get once your hero.
despoil + abs is just ungodly rediculous period. if ganging is your argument then rager powers should see a big boost since unlike mr scion they can't just teleport and most scions tend toward ultra conservatism anyway.
for a lot of spells they offer a boost to damage to some they increase the rate of the affects. If you rolled an invoker and asked yourself why my fireball does **devas** and yours do <<Anihilates>> well this is why.
explorers have a chance to treat wherever they are as hometerrain.
this was seen in bug form back in the day when cavern explorers were doing dive ambushes on regular ones outside of caves randomly.
really high lights make it easier and all but still paying attention to your screen will go a long way and seems to be the downfall of most newer players
but they need to gear up first and can't take on the groups of 5 villagers.
despoil alone makes any mage 30-50% better it really should not be able to fully stack with barrier.
and masteries are what make their damage output scary. Until you get geared and masteries vokers are really just not that scary cause they go down so hard
I am not questioning their damage dealing abilities but if you want to be really deadly mobility in finding enemies is important and its not easy to cover ground when you have to run everywhere like a villager.
And If i had been able to whip out a flurry I could have had a chance of finishing him off, off course by then I was not likely to last 4 vamps if I missed the full one. He mixes it up a lot. I mean he does a lot of fighting where likely neither side will land a kill but you get the fun of throwing down. The game gets boring when we all just avoid fights that don't seem to have a kill pot
satebos seemed willing to take a fair amount of risk. I mean yeah he poped a lot of phylacs and wands but he would actually fight without an army and summon trap. he was willing to mix it up even when all that was likely to happen was someone flee and that made fighting him fun since there was an element of chance.
Low on con, got my corpse and containers destroyed in the dragon tower and said fuck it by the time I managed to pick it up I would eat 2 more deaths from the area so just deleted would have con died in a week anyway and I need to focus on preparing for a certification exam next friday to get a job. was i could run with a sub optimal group on what would normally be crappy xp mobs and it was still worthwhile. I mean it was still challenging because our group was just a not very well balanced ranking group so I felt the xp matched the challenge.
Would be cool if less optimal ranking groups from a mechanical perspective got some bonus to xp to make the ranking still worthwhile.
and nothing but that segment is repeating over and over and over so nothing else in game is happening.
that includes fights so when the imms do a manual reboot of the game it willd be wherever your last save was like a normal crash but since the game was started in a not normal manner the uptime function won't capture the reboot time.
