In Reply to: As we've seen with "Imperial Law," being lawful means *alot* more than obeying archaic city laws. Mithadris has broken a "higher law" :) n/t posted by Khiravn on February 1, 2000 at 09:51:41:

Your argument just doesn't wash. There's a
big difference between Lawful Good and Lawful
Evil. Lawful Evil will break laws if they
think they can get away with it, and many
Imperials do. They also get punished for it
with Anathematization when they get caught,
which seems to happen a lot more often of
late.

Furthermore, about the only exceptions to
attacking in town that Empire gets away with
are A) immediate retaliation (someone attacks
them, then flees, etc), or B) Anathemas.

I'm sorry, but Paladins, even Paladin Marans,
shouldn't be completely ignoring the Law.
Bending, yes. Breaking occasionally, yes.
But a Paladin who totally ignores the Law is
not roleplaying his/her alignment properly,
and is instead roleplaying either NG or CG.
Now, maybe you don't think Paladins should
have to be LG always, but the Imms apparently
do... so take that as you will.
