Which class makes the best explorer?

That's a fairly straightforward question I think, but I will elaborate a bit.

Well, first, thanks to Arcane, Knight Rider, and Serinka for responding to my previous question about why Arcane Transmuters don't make the best explorers. Now on to the other stuff...

When I say explorer I mean, which class is the best to really go out there with, all by themsleves, and take a thorough gander at this wonder that is Thera.

I really think that it has to be some sort of Transmuter variation or some such, but I'm probably wrong.
