Dispelling invoker shields helps a lot to increase damage your group is doing. Maybe he didn't have shields (which is quite strange) but shaman couldn't know about it, he didn't even try dispel. Also I am quite sure demonfire does more damage than fatigue (ok maybe it won't work for a good aligned shaman vs a dark-elf but do you really think shaman should use fatigue when four sylvans pound the poor drow?).
